Today, it seems like gloom and doom are the main attractions in the news and even everyday conversation, and yes...in modern music (Ha, yes I'm going to sterotype, and NO, you can't make me listen to anything modern.) Look For the Silver Lining, music by the incomparable Jerome Kern, and lyrics by Buddy DeSylva was written in 1919. First made Popular by Marilyn Miller, singing it here, to Joe E. Brown.
It later became well known as sung by Judy Garland, who sang it at a Jerome Kern Memorial, and later in the Jerome Kern biopic, Till the CLouds Roll By. Here is Judy singing Look For the Silver Lining at the Jerome Kern Memorial broadcast.
