Oh man, I've given in. Over the past 5 or so years I've had different friends tell me that I NEED to watch Funny Girl. I do not consider myself a Barbra Streisand fan at all. In fact, I'm not ashamed to admint,I can't stand a lot of her songs. I've known who Babra is for a long, long time. And went from tolerating to genuinely enjoying her duet-medley with Judy Garland. But by herself, something lacks...something in her voice, her mannerisms. She sings good, you know, in tune, but still, I just don't like it. But this song is the one that started to give me a change of heart...My Man. In Funny Girl Barbra portrays Fanny Brice, and unlikely lass to become a Ziegfeld girl. When Fanny Brice sang this song in the 1921 Follies, It became associated with her, as Barbra sings here, "forever more!"
